Blog Real, Blog Personally

Blogging should be a way to express your self. You should never blog to give news which can be found on professional news sites, because then you’re only wasting your time. For example, if I wanted to know what about the junta government holding back aid for the disaster relief in Myanmar, I’m not going to go to blogs to find out what happened; I would go to news sites who sent journalists to Myanmar to find out what really happened. Instead, I would go to blogs to read about the perspectives of the bloggers and their thoughts and reactions to the tragedy.

When you blog it’s better to give your personal experiences with what you’re trying to point out in your writing. If you have experiences in something, which is related to your writing, than it’s best to point out so and so about how it relates to what you’re trying to explain.

If you have stories that you wouldn’t mind sharing to the public, then write it. As a blog reader myself I actually enjoy reading stories relating to real life situations. By reading I actually learn a lot and sometimes I get a laugh out of it because of the comedic situations. And this is something new that I learned right now. In future posts I will write posts related to my path to be a physician.

What do you think?

Pink City in Bangladesh

As I mentioned before, I’m origionally from the South Asian country Bangladesh. And I couldn’t help but notice the incredible economic boom which is happening in Bangladesh. Away from the busy Dhaka city, investors already started to build low-priced houses for the middle-income residents. Look at the pictures below; as you can see construction is still going on and so far the progress is going on well. Over 100 other major projects are going on in Dhaka, Sylhet, and Chittagong, and else where in Bangladesh.

With pictures in future posts of Bangladesh, I’ll show you why economists are saying why Bangladesh will become the next Malaysia.

How Important is your Bio on your Blog

June 22, 2008 – 10:59 pm

It looks as if I’m starting a new frequency of blogging; I’m blogging every other day. It’s ok I suppose since, all of my posts are quality posts and I have less time to write.

If you haven’t added your photo, your bio, or made a simple about me page, then you should do it ASAP. When you have an about me page, it actually shows what type of person you are toward your readers.

Photo

AJ, yeah that's me.

You’re a blogger, a writer writing online content, that’s all a reader knows about you without your picture; however, you should add more to define the personality of your blog. I actually enjoy reading the content written by someone who I’m familiar with. When you know how a person looks like, then it’s easy for you to connect to that person in someway and it pushes you to read his/her content. When I go to other different blogs, regardless of the topic of the blog, I enjoy reading the content if the writer is a Desi, someone of generation X or Y born, a tech person, a political person, a cell phone techi, or just an interesting person overall. I’m not discriminating any blog based on who the writer is, but I just find blogs with writers who connect with the qualities which I mentioned a but more interesting to me.

About Me Page

Along with your photo, you really should add an about me page telling your readers a little about yourself. A reader who favors your blog will be most likely someone who knows who you are well. With my about page I went all out and wrote a small paragraph about myself and what I want to achieve in life. I decided to create something creative with the introduction of my about me page:

Well what can I say? I’m not your typical Bengali Desi. I was kicked out of Bangladesh for being too white and my appearance was not in the fob style. I’m a singer in the works, but unfortunately, sounding like as if a cat got run over by a car isn’t the type of voice the record companies are looking for nowadays; my singing style is ahead of my time. My idea of a perfect life is working in the Kwik-E-Mart, 7Eleven, or a gas station 70 hours a week and coming home to a prepared meal of maach torkari (fish curry) and basmati rice.

Now the fish joke was was an inside Desi joke. I’m a Bengali and we eat a lot of fish and may be that’s why we look so fresh ;). Other Desis, especially the Pakistani Punjabis, know that Bengalis eat a lot of fish and they poke fun at us. In reality I can’t stand fish, the only meats I eat is chicken and goat.

Anyways, I decided to add a little humor to my about me page and I recommend you to do it too, but please don’t copy mine, otherwise Google will get you.

What do you guys think? Do you have a photo or an about me page on your blog?

How to Motivate Bloggers

June 20, 2008 – 11:51 pm

Yesterday I didn’t post, not because I was lazy but I didn’t have time. I didn’t organize my daily schedule to find an hour to blog. As I’m studying for the MCAT, I am trying to do certain projects to understand the applications which are used with the pre-medicine concepts.

As you can see my mind is so busy with other projects that I forgot to post, and it may happen in the future but I hope it doesn’t. I believe something is missing which gets me to write often on this blog and it’s motivation. Yes, no kidding, I don’t have enough motivation to write that much like I used to. The lack of motivation is keeping me from remembering to write on this blog.

Motivating Bloggers
A good blogger is a good writer who can capture his/her reader’s attention. I wouldn’t say I’m a great writer but I believe I’m descent enough to write well. If you are a blog reader then you should try your best to help the blogsphere by motivating bloggers, and it doesn’t take that much effort.

Comment often if you can; it only takes 5 minutes or less to think things through and give a feedback on a post. If you can’t find a post that you like on the front page then look through a blog’s archives and find one that interest you and read it thoroughly and write a quality comment for it. Comments tell the blogger that his writings are being read.

Link back to a blog of your interest. If you find a post on another site that relates to what you’re writing, then use that post to give a different perspective of your writing. Linking to a blog helps that blog gain Technorati rank and high places in search results.

You may be heard the phrase, “what goes around comes around” and it’s true. You help another blogger and that blogger will return in favor and help you.

Am I right, or what?

5 Things you Can Learn About Blogging from George W. Bush

June 18, 2008 – 12:38 pm

Yes, I’m not kidding, our President can teach us a lot about blogging, just check them out below.

Show Something Unique
You have to show something unique on your blog. It could be your writing style, your images, your blog template, or just the topics you choose, just differentiate your blog from others. Our current president stood out to be very different from other presidents. The policies and actions he advocated in Iraq and in Afghanistan, I’m sure no other administration can top his with his constant lies; plus let’s not forget his plans failing in every turn.

Just Be Funny
One thing that will capture any type of audiences is comedy. You would be surprised how many people will listen to you if you know how to make them laugh. President Bush, even though he seems as if he doesn’t know what his talking about, he still gives the best speeches which I’ve ever seen from any other presidents with grammatical errors and words which don’t even exist in any of the English dictionary like “brainificate” or “thinkify”.

Beat the Odds
You may be a novice blogger and you may not have any popularity or enough money for marketing, but you still can beat the odds. Research and compose methods of gaining popularity with quality content and make clever ways of gaining link backs to your site. Around 2003-2004 President Bush was very unpopular because of all the rumors of the bad things which are happening in Afghanistan and people predicted that he would not win the 2004 presidential election, but he did; and he also did it before then in 2000, against former Vice-President Al Gore even with his unpopularity.

Be an Expert in your Field
As I mention this again, please consider it. Be an expert in what you’re writing about, other wise people will not trust you or your writings. You have to have experience in what you write about otherwise you would not make sense. President Bush is an expert in his field of being a failure. His goal of invading Iraq, which he said will be like as in walking in a ball park, showed to be a total failure. He had past experiences too, every company he got himself involve into, before he became president, went down the drain. Watch Fahrenheit 9/11 you’ll see.

Don’t Copy Others
Plagiarism is a crime in the blogsphere and you get no second chance. Once you are caught copying and taking someone else’s credit, your reputation is gone. Lots of people have done it and they were not successful in whatever they wanted to achieve. Let’s look at George Bush, he’s not being original, he is trying to dominate the Middle East much like Hitler did when he try to dominate Europe. He is not learning from the mistakes of others and he’s pushing for another war with Iran. Go Bush….NOT!

Do you agree, or disagree?
